미국 중서부의 퇴락한 변두리. 펑크밴드 리더 사이먼은 방화를 저지르고 경찰에 쫓기는 신세가 된다. 우연히 만난 패티가 그에게 은신처를 마련해 준다. 패티는 사실 사이먼 밴드의 열성 팬이지만, 새로 만난 친구가 그 밴드 리더임을 몰라본다. 두 사람은 의기투합해서 작은 사고들을 치고 돌아다니는데, 알고 보니 둘 사이엔 생각보다 공통점이 많다.
